Abdominal earthquakes

Got our last ultrasound today. Lots and lots of pictures (one NSFW; heehee), though many of them were of the if-you-say-so variety (e.g. "...and this is the bladder..."). I wonder how much training it takes to tell all that stuff apart. We couldn't get a good profile shot, so the technician tried shaking Joo's belly a few times. The screen went berserk; I wondered if it felt like an earthquake inside. Kid wouldn't be bothered.

So yeah, ultrasound is one of the coolest things ever. Oh, and so is health insurance. We've dropped $30 on medical expenses so far. The pile of statements we get tells us that the actual cost is... a little more.

The next time we see our firstborn, it won't be on a black-and-white screen...

Listen, I have a word of advice for you. If you have a bachelor party coming up that takes you away from your 6/7-month pregnant wife for several days to Lake Tahoe, and you tell her, "I'll call you every day," you'd better call her every friggin' day. Otherwise, she might leave you angry pregnant voicemails saying, "I hate you for leaving me."

Not that that happened to me or anything.

The point is, Joo is right. You have to be nice to her. VERY NICE.

Heh, I encourage her (nicely! :P ) to play the pregnancy card in everyday life. Angry taxpayer on the phone? Some rude lady butting in line at the grocery store? Just make them turn from evil to "Awww" at the drop of a hat. It is that easy...right...? :)

no yawning, no yawning, no yawning...

:O Don't you know the rule? If you play the pregnancy card too much, you won't be able to play it when you really need to. Examples:

Riding the metro. There are no seats left. Joo bats her eyes both fetchingly and maternally at a nice young man...who ignores her because she used the card too much.

Or Joo buys groceries. The bag boy has to choose between her and an old lady. He chooses the old lady because she used the card too early in her pregnancy.

And the quintessential example? NO STORK PARKING SPACES LEFT. Actually, you shouldn't be using those anyway because walking is good for you. After you have the baby though, absolutely use stork parking :D

Does the happy "Joo's having a baby! Joo's having a baby!" dance
