At last week's office visit, we were looking over the doctor's form while waiting to check out. I'm guessing there's some official acronym for a routine obstetrical something-or-other. The form just said this...

pity party of one

I blogged about getting bigger in..march, april, may…. And today I was about to blog about it again. I don’t measure myself empirically but I know. So right now, what I have to say to myself is: wah wah wah. I’m not even in the home stretch, so blog all you want, but whateva. Get over yourself. (too bad I won’t. :b)
my tmi-there are two forms of peeing. The pee, and the tinkle. Lovely, no? maybe it’s a good thing we have one-ply, thinner than thin toilet paper at home. (you know how you buy something, thinking, whatever, I’ll live, but later on you wonder why you didn’t buy the better product) I’ll use it up.

childbirth class 28

First few thoughts – oooh, look at all the pregnant ladies in one room! Awww, look at all the baby daddies. :b It was a good class. I thought there’d be more focus on breathing techniques, but I guess we’re supposed to practice them on our own. That’s fine, I was too giggly in the class setting anyway. In the backburner of my mind was the fear of labor. Seeing the slides brought that fear to the forefront. How is it I can coo at March of the Penguins, or A Panda is Born, but when it comes to humans, I’m thinking, “ohhhh, that’s messed up.” And then I have conversations with myself - “think of it as a rite of passage.” “shut up joo.” It was funny how a huge chunk of Saturday was about drugs and when you can take them. And during breaks, all the ladies lined up for the bathroom.
We got to tour the delivery rooms – they were nice! I saw the mattress was vinyl and thought gross thoughts about that. maybe we need to watch some gorey movies to harden ourselves. The carnage! The horror! (The laundry!) Rob gets to see me at my best. :b
Oh, I inquired about getting non-rooftop parking at work and T quoted me the prices. But then he changed my parking permit anyway. I did NOT throw out the pregnancy card, though I was gonna.. way to work the system, ooj!

Scooby doo and the case of the disappearing belly button

Started reading the Girlfriend’s Guide to Pregnancy – it’s the only book that hasn’t stressed me out with the first chapter -or introduction (Thanks Karen!). I thought all the books would make me knowledgeable but I feel lost. Overwhelmed, maybe. If you’re a hot momma, expect some panicky phone calls. ;) there was one quip in the book that said something like women who have perfectly smooth pregnancies will probably be hit with a monster of a labor. I know she was joking. right?????
-gotta stop believing in karma/gotta get more fiber
27, two pounds!
PS - glucose drink is gah-ROS.

The universe is expanding… no wait, that’s me

I had shorts that fit a week and a half ago. They don’t fit now. Eeps!
And a random stranger asked me, “is it a boy?” I was taken aback. It just hadn’t happened yet. So it begins..
The movement inside is cool and funny.
When I walk up stairs.. I feel out of breath. *blush*
Sometimes I think, nine months is not enough time!! Besides, I spent the first month in total ignorance… and the second month in shock ;)
Glucose test tomorrow. Child birthing classes mid june.

~So here and there I’m picking up some free stuff. I got a bag of maternity clothes, and there are these pants. They WIN. Meaning, they’re really ugly. Brown plaid and did I mention they’re ugly? I saw them and immediately grimaced. I showed rob (“wanna see my ugly pants?”) and he saw them across the room and I think he said, “say no more.” It reminds me of the time in high school - we gave blake these ugly short/overalls as a joke. I need another blake in my life to bequeath this. ;)

~All of these baby books seem to have a superiority complex – that their method is the best way, and the other methods are butt-awful. Hmm. Makes for a lot of confusion. And guilt even. Then again, a lot of diet/health books are like that too. Remind me - you just gotta do what works for you.

Dear ________,
Today is the day after mother’s day. In 4 months, we’ll meet. What a strange anticipation. I mean, I’m carrying you, and you haven’t been apart from me, but I don’t know anything about you. Well, that’s what’s in store - the adventure of raising you. The world has so much to offer. I hope that life isn’t too hard on you. Even though that’s a strange thing to hope for, because that’s how character is formed – out of adversity. I want so much for you, for you to seize the day and live a life full of joy. I want you to know that God made you perfect. Even if you don’t think it’s true. God loves you, your dad loves you, and I love you. Don’t you forget.
Till September,
Mom

everything I say is subject to change

So I’ll cautiously say I’m peachy. ;) I have pregzilla moments, mostly when faced with personal questions I don’t want to answer (how much have you gained? my doctors know but I ain’t telling you) and strange advice from knowitalls (you shouldn’t go to the doctor too much!!). I’m feeling movement and it’s very encouraging. Was nervous about not feeling anything b4. I’m back to feeling ravenous. I eat but the stomach will growl an hour later. Also feeling weird about body image. I have a friend who is also a first time pregnant chick, so we commiserate about that. I don’t feel cute-pregnant. Nowadays I feel… awkward-pregnant. I’m still trying to wear nonmaternity clothing. Heh, so I’m adding to the awkwardness. Since a lot of my tops won’t cover this potbelly - not for long, anyway. I justify it – I’d rather save the maternity clothing for when I really need it. There’s not a huge variety, so I’d rather not get bored so quickly.
Sleeping on my side isn’t my favorite thing, but I’ll survive.
I’m trying to think of things that I want to do before September. What do I need to get out of my system? That’s feasible, I mean. No tattoos or skydiving. ;) trying to think of anyplace I’d want to travel to, but even then, I’m kinda blasé about it. Maybe I just want to be extra-lazy and savor it. I want to hang out with friends who I never see. At least before I go MIA. Which may as well be a warning to y’all. i already have antisocial tendencies. ;)
Rob’s been great. I thought you all should know. =)

for the record

i weighed 2900 grams (6 pounds, 6.29 ounces) at birth. rob weighed 8 pounds 8 ounces.
i felt a little snippy this weekend. at times. i'll leave it at that. :b
21, 12 ounces, 10 1/2 inches

edit: article mc sent me: i don't crave charcoal. don't think my cravings have increased since prepregnancy. this is the #1 question i've been asked. i'm still funny about meat, i guess. my uncraving. i don't eat a whole lot at a time. and i'd rather it be mixed up with other things. like in a burrito. and i get killer leg cramps.
